The exhibitor’s glossary·5 terms
Every term you’ll meet at the stand, without the vendor spin.
Written for the team exhibiting, not the team selling software to exhibitors. Short, specific, and honest about where each idea stops being useful.
Lead retrieval
Lead retrieval is the process of capturing an event attendee’s contact details at a trade show — usually by scanning their badge — and getting those details into a usable format for follow-up after the show.
Trade show meeting management
Trade show meeting management is how an exhibitor runs the conversations at their stand — the booked meetings, the walk-ins and the no-shows — as one schedule with one record per conversation, rather than as scattered calendar invites and badge scans.
Chase list
A chase list is the set of people who booked a meeting at your trade show stand and did not turn up, kept as a deliberate follow-up list so those conversations get a second attempt rather than quietly disappearing.
If you only read three, read these.
Lead capture
Getting a name out of a conversation at the stand.
Badge scanner vs lead capture app
A badge scanner is hardware rented from the show organiser to read attendee badges at one event. A lead capture app is software running on your team’s own phones across every event. Both read badges; they differ in cost, in what happens to the data, and in how much of the conversation they keep.

Follow-up
What happens to the conversation after the show closes.
Cost & pricing
What exhibiting costs, and what quietly makes it cost more.
